A Message From The Chair - Christina Dicks

I begin the Chair’s message with a Land acknowledgement. ECEBC’s offices are located on the unceded traditional ancestral territories of the Coast Salish Peoples - Musquem, Squamish, and Tsleil-Watuth Nations. I live, work, and play on the unceded traditional ancestral territories of the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nation, Port Alberni.

I immigrated from France to Canada in 1975 and landed in St. John’s Newfoundland. My father was from France and my mother was a Newfoundlander. I moved to Vancouver Island BC as a young adult and that is where I settled and started a family of my own.

I have been in the field since 2005 and have worked that entire time for the Alberni Valley Childcare Society, a not-for-profit organization. In my current role as Program Administrator, it has been my passion and ongoing goal to work towards advancing the profession of early childhood education. The 91资源code of ethics guides me in my personal life as well as my work.

I am honored to be able to advocate for Early Childhood Educators, children, and families. It is an exciting time in the field of Early Childhood Education, and we need to be thoughtful yet bold as we move towards a universal and sustainable system.
